For more than 25 years, my work has been guided by a simple but persistent question:

Why do organizations struggle despite capable leaders, good intentions, and constant effort—and how can management be understood and improved without fear or guesswork?

 I did not start with answers. I started with observation.

A JOURNEY SHAPED BY PRACTICE

My professional work began with diagnostics—trying to understand how organizations perform and why they so often fall short of their potential. Over time, something became clear: Traditional diagnostics create data, but they often block learning. They trigger defensiveness, political behavior, and superficial compliance. Leaders do not resist insight. They resist exposure and unintended consequences.

This realization fundamentally changed my work.

FROM DIAGNOSIS TO CLARITY

Rather than asking who is right or wrong, I began asking:

  • How does management actually work here?
  • What patterns shape behavior and outcomes?
  • Where do organizations muddle through without noticing?

This shift led to the development of the Organization Twin—a way to make organizational reality visible without judgment.

Not as a tool. But as a learning instrument.

MANAGEMENT AS CRAFT

I view management not as a set of techniques, but as a craft that can be learned, practiced, and mastered. This perspective runs through all my work:

Research and practice evolve together in my work. Neither stands alone.

MY ROLE TODAY

At this stage of my professional life, my focus is clear. I spend less time doing the work myself and more time:

  • Writing and documenting learning
  • Mentoring leaders and consultants
  • Supporting the next generation of practitioners

The goal is not scale for its own sake. It is clarity that endures.

The platform exists to support better management for a better future—quietly, rigorously, and without ideology. The Management Insights Academy supports clients, partners, and certified consultants with ongoing learning and resources. The work of Management Insights is developed and sustained through a distributed, international collaboration.

Lukas Michel, based in Switzerland, founded the work and continues to shape its application through practice, writing, and direct engagement with leaders.

Prof. Dr. Herb Nold, based in the United States, advances the research foundation through ongoing empirical studies and academic contributions.

Guido Bosbach
, based in Germany, ensures the quality and consistency of partner training and practice.

Clarity Practice is not scaled through a large partner network. It is developed through discipline and demonstrated capability.

A small number of certified practitioners currently work within this approach. Engagement is based on fit and readiness—not availability.

MY PROFESSIONAL CONTEXT

I am a management researcher, author, and advisor based in Switzerland. Over the past 25 years, I have worked with organizations across industries and regions, combining research, mentoring, and practice. Today, my work focuses on developing and stewarding the Organization Twin and supporting leaders, boards, and consultants in working with clarity.

A CLOSING REFLECTION

Organizations do not need more answers. They need better questions—and the ability to see themselves clearly. That is what this work is about.
